Information is the key to success in any business.
Information that is used by any person in the organisation starts
its life as data, many use the two words interchangeably but, Information
is the result of processing Data. The same piece of data can
be interpreted as a different type of information by different persons
in the organisation. Therefore efficient and accurate systems must
be in place to capture, process and direct this data so that it
can be used to make critical business decisions for the continued
success of the business.
There are many that will encourage computerization or implementation
of new systems simply because, well because they are new and therefore
must be better. Island Wizards however disagrees with this practice,
we believe in the old addage, "If it ain't broke, then don't
fix it". New technology does not always mean more accuracy or
efficiency which should be two of the main factors for overhauling
current systems.
